As she celebrates one year in the sport, we caught up with fun jumper Aimee – who did a tandem skydive in October 2023 and then booked her AFF skydiving course straight afterwards!
Today, she’s made over 200 jumps. Here’s her story, in her own words:
Aimee’s skydive story
Aimee’s skydiving story is an awesome one. It’s not often someone goes from a one off charity tandem skydive to making more than 200 jumps over the next 12 months!
From starting her journey as a tandem skydiver, the sport of skydiving grabbed Aimee’s attention and she fell immediately in love. With a little light encouragement from her videographer Gary (known as Swoop), she was soon booked on to an AFF ‘learn to skydive’ course.
After a day long ground school, learning everything she needed to make her first jump, Aimee was back in the plane, this time with two instructors by her side. From there, she progressed through 8 AFF ‘levels’, learning and showing her skills on every step, before earning her skydiving ‘A’ licence after 18 jumps.
She’s gone on to achieve so much, from earning her formation skydiving qualification (FS1 and FS1+) and being able to jump with her friends, to trying out new ‘carnage’ jumps, to getting her ‘C’ licence and earning the right to jump with a camera.
We’ve loved seeing Aimee’s progression and her skydiving journey so far. She’s a huge asset to Skydive Langar’s community, welcoming new people and befriending everyone she meets. She’s also a very skilled jumper, always willing to share her experience and help those around her.
We look forward to seeing what you achieve next, Aimee! Thank you for taking the time to share your journey so far.
