Skydiving Questions
What should I wear to Skydive?
Ensure that your clothes are comfortable, something that you can move around in easily. If it is a cold day, wrap up warm and bring a pair of gloves.
Can I wear a headscarf or other head-wear?
Yes, you can. In our experience, providing the head-wear is well secured, it should stay on without problem. We also have hats which can be worn over the top if you prefer. You're very welcome to try the hats on prior to your jump to see which option feels most comfortable to you.
What happens if the weather is too bad to skydive?
In accordance with British Skydiving regulations, we must operate within strict safety limits with regards to cloud cover and wind speeds. If the weather is deemed unsuitable for tandem skydiving you will be given the opportunity to re-schedule your booking for another time at your convenience. We advise everyone on the confirmation email to give us a call the day before your skydive so we can check the forecast for you.
Should I eat before I jump?
Absolutely, eat as normal. We always advise everyone to eat before they jump. Adrenaline does not like empty stomachs!
How much does a Tandem Skydive cost?
A Tandem Skydive is £270 at the Weekend or £230 Midweek. We sometimes have discounts and offers available. You can view all the prices for Skydiving, plus options extras through this link.
How safe is the equipment?
You might have wondered whether the parachutes even going to open! You’ll be pleased to know we use the most modern equipment on the market. Tandem parachute systems have 2 parachutes, a main and a reserve. The main parachute is packed by packing certificate holders who’ve been checked out on each system. The reserve parachute is packed by advanced packers and must be repacked and inspected every 6 months even if it hasn’t been used. At Skydive Langar an AAD(automatic activation device) is also mandatory, this device begins the reserve deployment even if the tandem instructor or skydiver are unable to deploy any parachutes themselves.
Does a tandem skydive feel like a rollercoaster?
This is a very common question and expectation of what people perceive skydiving to feel like. That sinking feeling in your stomach when you’re on ride is what most people are expecting to feel when the leave the plane. Surprisingly there is no sense of this, not even a sense of falling. Skydiving feels more like flying, floating through the air even when you are falling at average of 120mph!
Will I receive any training before I jump?
You will receive a safety briefing with an instructor before you jump. They will cover all aspects of the skydive with you including the equipment and what to expect. This can take approximately 10 – 15 minutes.
How long does it take to do a Tandem Skydive?
Skydiving is a weather dependent activity therefore it is almost impossible for us to predict how long you will need to allow for your skydive experience. We would hope, all being well and good with the weather, that you wouldn’t be waiting any longer then 2/3 hours. We do recommend that you call us the day before so we can check the weather forecast for the day of your jump. Once we are all ready to go the plane journey up to altitude will take approximately 15 minutes, free fall for 60 seconds and under the parachute around 3 to 4 minutes, giving you time to take in the breath taking views.
