Skydiving is an incredible experience and one which thousands of people come to enjoy for the first time every year here at Langar.
But who is most likely to enjoy skydiving?
In short, we think everyone can love our sport. To help you work out if it’s for you, here are some trends we’ve seen in people coming to skydive for the first time this year.
Adrenaline junkies
This one’s probably the most obvious. People who enjoy adrenaline fuelled activities are naturally attracted to the adrenaline rush of skydiving.
From the moment in the door of the aircraft to the 120mph freefall speeds, there extreme nature of parts of the skydive really appeal to people who’ve enjoyed other things like bungee jumping, zip lining, mountain biking and more.
Where we can, we’ll let you have a go at steering the parachute to really get your blood pumping!
Fear facers
Facing your fears isn’t always easy. But it is always worth it!
We love meeting people who know they have a fear of flying or of heights or of falling… and we have so much respect for the fact they are making the skydive anyway as a way of facing them.
Even if it’s not a known ‘fear’, we know that the first skydive is a big hurdle for anyone. Everyone in our team, from the reception staff to the instructors and the camera flyers, creates an environment for our visitors which is fun and supportive, so you know you’re in good hands.
New chapters and self-growth
Whatever your reason for going skydiving, the act of throwing yourself out of a plane and safely returning to the ground is incredibly empowering.
Many of our jumpers tell us that knowing that you can make the jump can help to give you more confidence and perspective in other areas of your life. Over the years, we’ve met many first time jumpers who tell us their choice to jump is driven by a new chapter in their life or simply wanting to push themselves out of their comfort zone. If you’re someone who wants to expand their horizons, skydiving is a great place to do it!
Birthdays and other celebrations
Lots of our tandem skydivers are jumping for their birthday or another celebration, like a graduation, a new job or an anniversary.
For some, it’s a complete surprise, bought for them as a gift. In some cases, they’re lucky enough to make the jump on their actual birthday and there’s nothing like meeting a tandem skydiver who only heard they were doing it when they woke up that morning!
For others, it’s something they’ve planned for themselves, as a treat to recognise an occasion. What better way to mark a special event or date than jumping out of a plane?!
Charity skydives
A tandem skydive is a great way to raise money for causes close to your heart. We welcome anyone raising money to help a charity and love seeing so many charities being supported by people who jump with us.
If you want to make a charity skydive, you can do so as an individual or as part of a group. You can find out more about charity skydiving here.
Buying a skydive as a gift
As we approach the festive period, many of you may be thinking about buying a skydive as a gift. And, as you might expect, we think that’s a great idea!
Take a detour from the usual gifts and choose a skydiving gift instead. Our skydiving gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from purchase; once your recipient has their voucher, they will choose a date and time for their skydive that suits them best. Choose a voucher with a photo and video package included and they’ll get a dedicated camera flyers to document the whole experience.
Plus, the gift vouchers look great – either as a physical voucher or via email.
We hope to see lots of you very soon!
